Alpha updated

Hello,

Today's CVS has been used to bootstrap a new VM and images in the usual 
alpha area, incorporating all posted fixes up to the present. This is 
intended as a stable point for work on new terminal interaction 
capabilities via ncurses, which is already entering CVS but not 
complete.

Don't forget that "make get-alpha" will fetch these files for you on 
unix-like systems.
