diff with minor changes

tough it might contain some useful c/syntax fixes. take a look...

as a sidenote: perforce is free for opensource projects and it knows
about entire check-ins. so it's much less threat to give write access to
people because you can easily overview/rollback someone's entire
check-ins. but i'm not completly up-to-date on cvs systems.
